About Avishkar Poddar

I am Avishkar Poddar, a fashion-lifestyle-product photographer with over 14 years of experience in the field. I started off as an assistant to ace fashion photographer Akash Shrivastava in the year 2001 and continue to work on freelance basis with his team for shoots in India as well as Internationally. In India, I have done photographic assignments for Cosmopolitan, India Today, Cine Blitz, Man’s World, The Week, Femina, Filmfare and FHM magazines. Abroad my works have been published in UAE, in Ahlan Masala regularly for their feature: Bollywood Celebrities and their Homes. Besides this, I have worked as a photographer for and (both now defunct) at Lakme Fashion Week in 2002, 2003 and 2005 generating photography content of designers/ models/ shows etc. Amongst designers I have worked with Anita Dongre, Neeta Lulla and Ana Singh for their collections. In product photography, I have done assignments for Paatchi Chocolates, Rinaldi Shoes, several gems and jewelry brands in India and abroad. In the UAE I have been a photographer in several high-profile weddings as well as shot Office, Interiors and Factory complexes including several assignments for JRD International and RMD Board. I believe that as a photographer I am versatile and work with portraiture, product as well as still life assignments with equal ease. I have a sharp sense of styling, lighting, color story, playing with depth of field as well as composition. My forte is in ambient, mixed (flash + ambient or flash + sunlight) as well as studio photography. I work seamlessly through a variety of equipment, lighting set-ups and am truly versatile with formats (small, medium, large) as per the requirements of the assignment. I am also a professionally trained photoshop and graphic artist with capabilities of designing campaigns for brands as well as work from concept to finished art-works. Ultimately, photography to me is more of an avocation than a career and its my constant endeavor to upgrade my skills and techniques and keep abreast with the latest technologies in the field of photography.
