About Avra Mukherjee

Historian and Preservationist. I was introduced to the world of cultural resource and heritage preservation efforts and my interest focused on not only preserving these rich sites but also tell their stories and keep that history alive for generations to come. Summer internship with the National Park Service at Cane River Creole National Historical Park in Natchitoches, LA. I was re-hired upon graduating for a second term from January 2021. My job included managing administrative functions to ensure smooth day-to day running of the park, create visitor engagement activities, develop new tours, volunteer co-ordination, social media outreach, plan and outline monthly events. Cane River community represents a unique, intact creole culture and my job included closely to work with the local community, attend meetings with local partners in preservation for both economic, social and cultural development of the region. Interested in the built-environment, to protect and preserve heritage, culture for the future generations and sustainable use of existing resources
