About Ayan Dey

Academic Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist at North York General Hospital, and Sleep Medicine Fellow. My clinical and academic interests focus on treatment-resistant mood and anxiety disorders, with particular attention to how sleep disturbance and executive dysfunction influence mental health outcomes throughout the lifespan. I approach these challenges through a cognitive neuroscience and neurobiology lens, integrating the latest neurobiological and behavioural insights into evidence-based psychiatric care. As a graduate of both the University of Toronto MD/PhD Program and the Clinician Scientist Program in Psychiatry, my training in cognitive neuroscience has given me a special appreciation for the diverse functional outcomes seen in aging and acquired brain injury. I am passionate about exploring the heterogeneity in executive functioning and its real-world impact across patient populations. I am also deeply engaged in medical education, quality improvement—particularly measurement-based care—and the meaningful use of technology to enhance patient experience, improve outcomes, and drive efficiency in mental health care.
