About Ayla Gambrell

I am a 4th year interior design student at Kent State University. I grew up in Cleveland, OH with mom and my black lab dog named Maddie and have always enjoyed all things creative and active. My passion for design sparked through following my first career path of exercise science. As I went through the courses, I began to realize that I was following a path I was most comfortable with rather than passionate about. As that realization set it in, I grew more interested in design due to a school project that revolved around designing a small athletic facility. From there, I transferred schools, took a chance on interior design, and have never looked back. I am a designer who finds value in finding creative design solutions that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. There are many ways to create a well-designed interior, but the functionality of it is just as important because it should meet the needs of those who will be using it to truly be considered successful. I am seeking employment somewhere that isn't afraid to push the limitations of design and utilizes diverse voices to better understand all aspects of what a project entails and ensure that the user needs remain top priority.
