About Ayla Rasing

After high school, I immediately set out into the world of media by moving to London to study Film Making at the University of Kingston for a year. Interested in exploring media more generally, I moved back to the Netherlands the following year to study Media Studies at the University of Groningen. After broadening my horizons on a five-month-exchange to Iceland and an internship at Talpa Media, I received my Bachelor's degree in 2019. That same year, I started the Master Film and Contemporary Audiovisual Media at the University of Groningen. I did my internship with Cinekid, the world's largest children's film and media festival, while simultaneously writing my thesis on the combination of sound and silence in Japanese and American horror film jump scares. Until recently, I was a part of the two-person marketing team of the International Filmfestival Assen. I have also done annotation for research at the Max Planck Institute of Empirical Aesthetics and data processing for Cinekid Festival.
