About Aymon Langlois

I am a disabled award-winning writer, scholar-activist, educator, and consultant.A member of its intramural Periclean Honors Forum, I graduated from Skidmore College magna cum laude with honor in English. During my undergraduate years I concentrated on the academic study of disability, its representation in cultural forms, and its intersection with contemporary American politics.Discovering disability studies wasn't solely an intellectual experience though; it has allowed me to appreciate aspects of myself that society had me convinced were deficits to be overcome. I aspire to support others in furthering this sense of pride and empowerment in their disabled identities.I revitalised and for three years led Skidmore's ADA Commission—work for which I was awarded the Rodney D. Andrews Prize in recognition of "cheerful, unobtrusive, and unselfish service."Writing has appeared in Evening Street Review, JAKE, and Wordgathering: A Journal of Disability Poetry and Literature. My debut essay collection, Ugly Feet, OCD, and Other Intimations of Resistance: A Narrative Suite on Disability and Masculinity, is forthcoming from Anxiety Press. New York Times' essayist and author of one of The New Yorker’s Best Books of 2023, The Country of the Blind, Andrew Leland has called it "a promising, exhilarating entry into the canon of writing that successfully weaves together memoir and critical inquiry." I am Assistant Director of Accessibility Services at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
