About Ayshe Yeter

I'm a senior at the University of Kentucky with intent to graduate in December 2025. American government and politics are my main areas of interest, specifically judicial politics. I enjoy learning about the Supreme Court, civil rights and liberties, and constitutional interpretation, and am passionate about immigrant rights. By and large, social justice is the driving force behind my personal and academic aspirations, and I plan to pursue a legal career focused on advocacy after graduation. Throughout my undergraduate career, I spent a lot of time gaining hands-on experience in advocacy and immigration-based settings. I interned with my university's International Student and Scholar Services office for a semester and worked with local refugee communities as a Step-Up Fellow. I also channeled my passion for social justice into a National Science Foundation-funded research project at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where I examined hate crime legislation in Arkansas and its impact on local minority communities. In addition to Political Science, I am also interested and possess prior work in Japan Studies. I spent a semester abroad at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan, and have completed through intermediate level Japanese language coursework. On top of schoolwork and various extracurricular activities, I also work part-time as a House Manager at Singletary Center for the Arts, an on-campus performing arts venue. When not busy with school and work, you can find me thrift shopping, watching Korean dramas, and hanging out with my cat, Red.
