About Ayu Fitzgerald

Ayu is Counsel in the Raleigh, N.C. office’s immigration practice. Ayu focuses her practice on employment-based immigration benefits. Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Ayu represented a multinational corporation and managed employment-based immigration petitions from inception to completion. Ayu has advised foreign nationals and client representatives throughout their nonimmigrant and immigrant cases. Ayu managed non-immigrant cases such as H1B, TN, E3, L1, and O1 petitions. She also managed immigrant matters such as I-140, AOS, EB-1(c), and PERM petitions. Moreover, Ayu managed the response to various USCIS Requests for Evidence (RFE). Throughout her career she has also gained working knowledge of family, humanitarian, and crime-based immigration benefits. Ayu began her practice drafting decisions for Immigration Judges during a legal externship with the Dallas Immigration Court. Before beginning her business immigration practice, Ayu volunteered for the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas providing legal assistance in the areas of asylum and crime-based visas. Ayu’s immigration knowledge is therefore well-rounded. Drawing on her passion for immigration and children’s rights, Ayu presented her directed research findings on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status as a one-hour continuing legal education (CLE) at the Dallas 10th Annual Child Welfare Conference in May, 2019. Notably, Ayu’s legal articles Crimes Against Humanity in Venezuela: Can the ICC Bring Justice To Venezuelan Victims? have been published by the University of Miami International and Comparative Law Review and the Inter-American Law Review Journals.
