Background
About Azhar Hasan
I am currently a PhD student in Chemistry at Clemson University, specializing in the synthesis and characterization of advanced hybrid materials for next-generation energy storage applications. My research focuses on developing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent-organic frameworks (COFs) to enhance ion transport and conductivity, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable battery technologies. With a strong foundation in wet chemical synthesis and materials characterization, I have gained hands-on expertise in electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). My work in the Saha Lab at the Howard L. Hunter Chemistry Laboratory involves utilizing a range of advanced characterization tools, including XRD, SEM-EDX, HRTEM, FTIR, XPS, BET, TGA, DRS, UV-Vis, elemental analysis, and DFT modeling. Currently, I’m engaged in collaborative research at the Advanced Materials Innovation Complex, Clemson University, focused on developing lithium-ion-based solid-state electrolytes and electrode materials for all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs). My work involves fabricating and testing CR2032-type coin cells using MOF and COF-based SSEs and anode materials. I evaluate key battery performance metrics, including charge/discharge capacity, rate and long-term cycling stability, CV, EIS, voltage profiles, and Coulombic efficiency. Passionate about solving complex material challenges, I am eager to contribute to clean energy innovations and sustainable technologies. As I prepare to transition into industry R&D, I aim to apply my expertise in electrochemistry, battery technology, and materials science, along with problem-solving, data analysis, project management, and collaboration skills, to drive impactful advancements in the field.
