About Azmi Yaakop

Azmi, an extrovert & a real team player who values diversity; brings more than 25 years of expertise in strategic communications, marketing & branding via his stints with aspiring GLCs, public-listed companies & multinational corporations. He is also an expert in stakeholders' management, particularly government relations through his lobbying and advocacy experiences managing various local & global projects in a complex, diversified business environment across various digital & conventional media. Azmi is also a strong advocate of sustainability and throughout his employment, he championed the establishment and monitored the implementation of ESG/sustainability frameworks for the organisations that he served. In October 2022, he successfully completed his certification on “Circular Economy & Sustainability Strategies” by the University of Cambridge University, Judge Business School. As his comparative advantage, Azmi was trusted to lead the strategic comms, branding and marketing aspects for various high profile national projects & sponsorship initiatives and had worked closely with various ministries & agencies, GLCs, NGOs, associations, & political parties and contributed to company's revenue via customized product and service offerings of the company. Azmi has also spent close to 13 years within the ICT industry besides his exposure in the oil & gas and financial industry. Although his current role revolves around government relations area; Azmi also had strong exposure in media relations, investor relations, corporate social responsibility/sustainability, as well as internal communications and not to forget his experience managing communications for change management initiatives at the global level when he acted as the communication specialist for Shell IT International. As a father of four, Azmi upholds strong family values and his own personal values and places highest standards of integrity in all of his actions. During leisure times, Azmi loves to travel and meet people from different cultures and loves working out at the gym to keep fit and healthy. He is definitely a people's person with strong interpersonal communication skills and will not say NO to any invitation for a karaoke session! Bring it on!
