About B. Chad Bungard
B. Chad Bungard is currently the Chief of Staff for the Office of Inspector General, Social Security Administration. Prior to that, he served as the Deputy Commissioner for Analytics, Review, and Oversight at the Social Security Administration. Mr. Bungard was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the Vice Chairman, U.S. Merit Systems Protections Board in April 30, 2019. He was unanimously approved by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on June 19, 2019. He served as the chief legal officer and legal representative for SIGTARP. Provided executive leadership and independent, comprehensive legal services and counsel to the agency in many areas. SIGTARP is a federal law enforcement agency that targets financial institution crime and is an independent watchdog protecting taxpayer dollars. Previously, he served Counsel to the Inspector General for SSA, where he provided executive leadership as the chief legal advisor to the Inspector General and senior staff. He was also responsible for administering the Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) Program, including the imposition of penalties and assessments, and the settlement and litigation of CMP cases. Beginning in 2006, Mr. Bungard served as the General Counsel of the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, where he served as the chief legal advisor and chief legal representative. Mr. Bungard was nominated by President George W. Bush to serve as the General Counsel for the U.S. Federal Labor Relations Authority in 2008. Mr. Bungard started his career in private practice with the law firm of Bopp, Coleson & Bostrom, with an emphasis on campaign finance law. He began his Federal career in 2001 as Counsel for the Government Reform Committee. Starting in 2003, Mr. Bungard served as the Chief Counsel and Deputy Staff Director for the U.S. House Subcommittee on the Federal Workforce and Agency Organization. He has been published in the UCLA Entertainment Law Review, the Seton Hall Legislative Journal, and the University of North Carolina First Amendment Law Review. He was also a contributor in the 9th Ed. of Black's Law Dictionary. Mr. Bungard is licensed to practice law in VA. He has appeared in several tv shows:
