About Baas Brimer

A global thinker and seasoned expert in environment and climate change, I am currently driving impactful initiatives at Lux-Development, the Luxembourg government's development cooperation agency. With a multifaceted career spanning over a decade, I have cultivated a deep expertise in integrating climate action into development work. My role involves advising on environmental and climate matters, coordinating LuxDev's climate and environment portfolio, and acting as a focal point for the Green Climate Fund. Beyond project management, I am committed to embedding Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility into LuxDev's ethos at all levels. My journey prior to LuxDev has been diverse and enriching. From leading the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping Unit at the UN World Food Programme in Lao PDR to shaping climate and disaster risk reduction strategies at WFP headquarters in Italy, I have navigated various dimensions of global development. My tenure at PwC and EY, coupled with experience as Attaché for Development Cooperation at the European Union Delegation in Lao PDR, provided me with robust advisory skills and a comprehensive understanding of public and private sector synergies. An alumnus of TU Bergakademie Freiberg, I hold an MSc in Earth System Science, specializing in Geoecology. Fluency in English, French, German, and Luxembourgish complements my international experience, enabling effective cross-cultural communication and collaboration. At my core, I am driven by a passion for sustainable development, a commitment to justice and efficiency, and a ceaseless curiosity about the world. Whether it's advocating for science-based solutions or engaging in sports and nature, I continuously seek to expand my horizons and challenge the status quo.
