About Babette McCarthy

A doctor in biological sciences with strong analytical, technical and communication skills, working within the pharmaceutical industry. I have a wide interest in life sciences, constantly curious, motivated and eager to advance myself personally and professionally. During my PhD research, I worked on aquatic animal health. I investigated the environmental stressors of disease paradigm of Pacific oyster, the infection and transmission pathways of oyster herpes viruses and vibrio bacteria from Pacific oysters to other marine invertebrates and the effect of antiviral compounds on immune defence system of Pacific oysters. I developed good skills in project management, environmental fieldwork, and communication skills. I am familiar with public speaking at seminars and conferences (inter)national for academics and industry partners, scientific and technical writing and data analyses. I published as first author and co-author in a various of peer reviewed journals (under maiden name: Bookelaar). Through my PhD research in aquatic animal health, I have also developed a keen interest in public health and healthcare product development. I am keen to progress my career in the field of drug development, drug lifecycle, lifecycle safety and clinical trial research. Therefore I recently completed a Post Grad in Pharmaceutical sciences. I have 6 year work experience in the pharmaceutical/ clinical industry and developed an expertise in the following parts of Lifecycle safety / Pharmacovigilance- Project Management - Clinical Regulatory Reporting of clinical trials and post marketing studies - Technical / Medical writing - Medical information regarding wide range of medical products, therapeutic areas and its indications - Monitoring / Reporting of Product Complaints and Adverse Events I am GDP, GCP, GVP and ICH guidelines trained and have good knowledge of (bio) pharmaceutical lifecycle development.
