About Babette van Olphen

During my master degree at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam I specialised in Marketing, PR and health communications. When writing my master thesis, I got a glimpse of the effects of outdoor advertising. By analysing 139 outdoor campaigns (covering a total of respondents), I reported the impact on consumer's brand awareness and purchase intentions. This 'real life' data and the insights it brought me revealed the impact of marketing communications, and the predictive power of concrete data. My enthusiasm about this project confirmed that the seed of interest for marketing that was planted during my previous study, was blooming. During my first study at the Hotelschool The Hague I gained various skills. Mostly within the fields of consulting and marketing: almost all projects concerned analyzing, making connections between actions and situations, mapping current and desired situations, and work our way through, logically. Another important and interesting main point of view was the psychological (and marketing) aspect: what moves people? Why do consumers choose a certain brand, service or company? What really influences or drives people? My openness and interest for human behaviour was very helpful during the past jobs I've had in hospitality. My working experience ranges from 5 star level to lunch rooms, where I've had the honours to meet different people and cultures, which still gives a smile on my face every day. Specialties: my enthusiasm -), organizing, planning, analyzing, creating.
