About Bailey Setzler

Bailey has more than 6 years of experience in environmental consulting including natural resources management and preparation of CEQA-compliant analyses. She has conducted a variety of field deployments including vegetation mapping, focused rare plant surveys, nesting bird surveys, butterfly surveys, arroyo toad surveys, and general construction compliance monitoring. Bailey has prepared environmental documentation including biological monitoring reports, biological resources technical reports (BTRs), biological resources sections of IS/MNDs, and biological resources sections of programmatic and project-level EIRs. In addition, she has assisted with the preparation of planning documents related to biological resources, including the San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation’s Targeted Monitoring Plan Preserve Group 3 Update. In addition to her work at Ascent, Bailey is in pursuit of a Master's Degree in Biology at San Diego State University. She is working in the Global Change Research Group studying carbon cycling in shrubland ecosystems using eddy covariance techniques. She hopes that this work will illuminate the contribution that California shrubland ecosystems can make towards carbon sequestration in natural and working lands to mitigate climate change impacts. She is also enjoying completing coursework including ecology, mammalogy, and ornithology.
