About Bailey Warner

Graduate from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in neuroscience. Currently, I am a Pulmonary Function Technician at the UCSF Medical Center. As a Pulmonary Function Technician, I perform pulmonary function and exercise tests on patients. These tests are used to diagnose and manage disease in patients. A Pulmonary Function Technician also participates in research projects that require pulmonary function or exercise testing as an evaluation criterion. The major portion of the duties of a Pulmonary Function Technician includes instructing and properly coaching patients to perform very demanding and “effort-dependent” breathing tests, independently and under minimal supervision, sometimes on very ill patients. While attending school, I also worked three jobs at the Koret Health and Recreation Center: lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim coach. Post graduation, I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor. In these roles I was responsible for maintaining pool safety in and out of the water. As a swim instructor, I worked with all ages, from 3-70, in groups or one-on-one environments. Lastly, I was a swim coach for a competitive swim group, ages 8-16. While at the University of San Francisco, I held leadership roles in an academic club, Women in Science. Through my years at the university, I held positions of secretary, vice-president, and president. Women in Science is a club where women in the science fields and those who support women in science fields can come together and socialize with one another as well as have more one on one experience with female faculty members.
