Background

About Bailie Antwiler

Within both the personal and professional sectors of my life, I have always had a passion for education. I began my professional career as a secondary English teacher in hopes of instilling my love of learning in future generations. Throughout my time as an educator, I worked within two districts that were comprised of diverse populations of students and stakeholders. In order to become an even greater educator, I completed my Master of Education in Educational Leadership (2021) and my Master of Science in English (2023). When my family moved from Texas to Illinois, I decided that I wanted to venture into other avenues of the educational world. Although my time within the classroom was over, I still wanted to be able to guide students on their academic journeys. In order to continue on this path, I became an admissions counselor at Governors State University. In Fall 2023, I began Governor State's Doctorate of Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership program. This particular degree will focus on leadership within higher education, and I will be able to use the knowledge and skills acquired here to advance my understanding of higher education and how to best support a variety of students as they pursue their goals.
