Shift take over and review with outgoing shift control operator the activities of the previous shift such as tripping, shut-down, start-ups, deviations from operating standards, etc, To ensure that continuing problems are handled as necessary Review log book from previous shift to determine condition/status of each unit check parameters, Alarms, unit loads, steam production, communicate with LDC with relating to systems export requirements, Take corrective action of in respect of deviations according to established procedure and report to Assistant Shift Charge Engineer or further advice and action. Coordinate with field Operators and Assistant Shift Charge Engineer to resolve deviations from normal standards and problems on the net work, include isolating equipment and auxiliaries. Operating the Electrical systems, Switching of the net work,Synchronizing and de-synchronizing the generators in coordination with LDC, etc. To carry out maintenance and as required Communicate and coordinate with GTG/STG and Desalination Operations relating to steam and load requirements. Participate in inspection to ascertain the general status of the STG plant. Include checking panels readings, sensors and alarms,LFO tank levels, battery chargers,UPS(Uninterrupted power supply). Perform needed housekeeping activities and report abnormalities to shift supervision for further action. Inspect and Monitor the operation of such auxiliaries as main De-Aerator and Boiler drum levels and pressure, Air supply pressure LFO tank levels, plant air and instruments air pressure, Cooling temperature set point, Condensate systems feed water systems, Boiler water system, HFO, LFO, fuels gas systems, Boiler draft systems, Steam turbine, etc. Acting to first response to emergency situations take appropriate steps to stabilize the problems as much as possible while simultaneously inform the shift charge engineer and other parties as indicated in the procedure to safeguard.
