About Barbara Arisi
Anthropologist and Journalist with experience in the Amazon region and in The Netherlands. I am specialist in gender/sexual diversity, environmental and indigenous people issues. Currently, I am writing a book based on my MSc thesis. I have worked until 2023 as a Pos Doc researcher and teacher in the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and in the Amsterdam University Colleague and, as guest teacher, for Amnesty International. In 2016/17, and as researcher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, about urban waste management and circular economy in The Netherlands. I am a member of the Society for the Anthropology of Lowlands South America and of the Associação de Antropologia Brasileira. I co-authored two books about intersectionality of indigenous and sexual diversity published by Springer. I research, train and teach about anthropology, sexual diversity, human rights, sustainability and communication.
