About Barbara Barth

Barbara completed her B.Sc in Psychology at Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre (UFCSPA-Brazil) during which she was awarded a full scholarship to complete a one year exchange period at York University (Canada). She obtained her M.Sc. in experimental psychology at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS-Brazil) and during this period she completed a two-year clinical training in cognitive behavioral therapy. As a master’s student, she was awarded by the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP – Canada Global Affairs) a full scholarship for a research trainee experience at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute (Canada). Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Patricia Pelufo Silveira, being funded by the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRQS) and received a fellowship award from the Faculty of Medicine Internal Studentship Awards - F. S. B. Miller Fellowship. Barbara is interested in the interplay between dopamine and early environment conditions as the biological basis for the early origins of psychiatric and cardiometabolic comorbidities, focusing on individual variabilities. With her Ph.D. in neuroscience, she aims to address complex questions to understand the process of health and disease and contribute to the growing precision medicine field.
