About Barbara Howe

As an instructor at the University of South Florida (USF), I teach and inspire students to understand and engage with the complex and dynamic world of international relations. I also conduct original research on populism and extremism, and the role of ideas in shaping political orders. I have a master's degree in International Relations from the University of Florida, and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Political Science at USF. Before joining academia, I worked in political communications for various nonprofit organizations in Washington D.C. I have extensive experience in managing online platforms, writing and editing content, conducting surveys and analysis, and developing strategic communications plans. I am also a freelance writer and have published multiple articles and reports on topics such as the US foreign policy, democratic backsliding, and labor abuses in the agriculture industry. I am fluent in Spanish and passionate about promoting social justice and democracy.
