About Barbara J. Jackson

Barbara J. Jackson, Ph.D, DBIA joined the the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business faculty as the new Director of the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management in 2013. Dr. Jackson came to Burns from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where she was a professor of Construction Management in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design She then became Director of the Center for Integrated Project Leadership (CIPL) for the Built Environment, an educational outreach organization that served the AEC industry and owner groups. Dr. Jackson has received numerous awards, including the Service Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Building Operations and the Certificate of Appreciation for the South Pacific Division, Regional Business Center, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She also received a Design-Build Distinguished Leadership Award in 2001 and 2002, and the DBIA Distinguished Service Award in 2005. Dr. Jackson is a nationally recognized speaker, trainer, and consultant on design-build project delivery and high performance design-build teams. She is probably best known for her work in the area of “Making the Mental Shift to Design-Build” and “Developing the Integrated Design-Build Ready Team.” She has presented to a multitude of private companies, professional organizations, and public agencies such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), Construction Specification Institute (CSI), PENREN Renovation Joint Venture (DMJM/3DI), Mortenson Construction, National Guard Bureau, CDM Incorporated, Sundt Construction, GKK Works, The Bannett Group, 3-D International, Plan One Architects, South Pacific Division-US Army Corp of Engineers, PCL Construction, Armada Hoffler, Rosendin Electric, Santa Fe Indian School, Korte Construction, Hawaii Department of Education, Panama Canal Authority, Albuquerque Schools District, and others.
