About Barbara MacRobie

As the Missouri Arts Council’s public information coordinator, I combine my lifelong love of the arts with a communications career that goes back to college. I love being part of a team dedicated to supporting the arts for the cultural and economic vitality of Missouri. This job truly is, as the description states, “a position that makes our state a better place to live.” Before joining the Missouri Arts Council, I spent most of my professional St. Louis career doing publicity, publications, and special events for Dance St. Louis, which at the time was the region's premier dance presenter. I also created marketing programs for a wide variety of freelance clients, from the St. Louis Tap Festival to an independent mother-and-baby store. A pre-St. Louis specialty was healthcare public relations. I take pride and pleasure in crafting words to accomplish the specific task at hand. I love language and read the "Oxford English Dictionary" for fun. Although my current position does not call for much of the following activities, I have also always enjoyed working with the media, forging community partnerships, and creating special events.
