Barbara Mann holds a BS in Biology (with a concentration in Botany) and an MBA, both from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Certificate in Non-profit Management from Tidewater Community College. In addition to her current work as a Grant Development Specialist in the Office of Research at Old Dominion University (ODU), she continues to be involved in the arts. She was a Lab Manager at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology working on projects to map neural pathways which innervate the oculomotor and vestibular systems. She served as Program Manager at Virginia Space Grant Consortium for the NASA Global Climate Change Education program and Program Director at the ODU Business Gateway for a US Department of Transportation project supporting small businesses. As a producing studio artist, her first funded grants were from the Virginia Commission for the Arts Artist-in-Residence programs for schools in Richmond, VA. Since then, she has authored proposals to the National Science Foundation, NASA, Virginia Department of Social Services, US Department of Transportation, US Department of Education, Small Business Administration, Virginia Community College System, as well as a number of foundations.
