I have been in industrial for over 40 years; 22 in industrial maintenance and 22 in industrial transportation. This is an exciting field to be in. I have seen advancements in technology make a giant impact in this industry. My 22 years in industrial maintenance was in one of the largest paper mills in the world. My position was responsible for over 300 pieces of mobile equipment to repair, document, and replace when needed. The equipment was located throughout the mill and impacted nearly every department. The heavy equipment unloaded the logs as they came in with L90 Logstackers, the dozers maintained the chip piles in the woodyards, and there was an array of loaders, cranes, etc. The warehouses and shipping and receiving had over 70 pieces of lift equipment to clamp the paper rolls and fork trucks to stage, locate and load pallets in 6 warehouses. Personnel carriers, both gas and electric were used to transport workers and their toolboxes over 2500 acres of mill property. Outlying areas used trucks for the rest, each carrying the mechanics tools, so they would be easily accessible to maintain the vast mill. Twenty-Two years ago I established FSI - Fleet Services Inc, a 24 hr. courier service. Working in industrial, I saw the need for a unique service that could be available to all industries to deliver and pick up needed parts and equipment on demand. Suppliers and manufacturers alike were using skilled personnel to deliver and pick up parts and product, thus taking them away from their jobs.This was an impractical way to conduct business, when they were wasting the time and expertise of a machinist, for example, to deliver parts. They also were subjecting their company to the liabilities that could be imposed, having to buy a delivery vehicle, expensive insurance to cover it, and the high cost of fuel. The expense to hire us was far less expensive than wasting the time of the worker and the extra expense. Several scenarios were presented with proven facts and figures to substantiate our claim. We still have many of those same customers that we started with 22 years ago because they trust us with their products and representing their companies. As their partners, we are professional, responsible, cost effective and reliable in their efforts to achieve their goals.
