About Barbara Ransom

I believe that positive change happens when we bring people together. As a Program Coordinator for Community Action, I connect low-income families with critical financial assistance for rent, utilities, education, child care, and job training. Through outreach, data analysis, and collaboration with local organizations, I work to ensure that all community members have access to the resources they need to thrive. A guiding principle in my work is: “Nothing about us without us.” Originally from the disability rights movement, this statement resonates deeply in community action. No policies or programs should be created for low-income individuals without their voices at the table. Whether it's working with local organizations to expand our reach or sitting down with residents to understand their challenges, I believe that lasting change starts with listening and working together. When I’m not out in the community, you can probably find me in a coffee shop or spending time with my Maltese Yorkie—who, if you ask my friends, I might be a little too obsessed with.
