About Barbara Ross

Barbara M. Ross is an accomplished trial and appellate attorney who has consistently achieved superior results for clients for over 25 years. She is chair of the firm’s Insurance Practice Group, and concentrates her practice on insurance coverage, condemnation, real estate, and debtors/creditors litigation. Barbara represents insurance carriers and policyholders in insurance coverage cases, providing to clients courtroom expertise and insight from her work in the insurance industry. She has extensive experience in successfully handling condemnation cases for both condemning authorities and land owners, and obtaining successful results in litigation involving collection and mortgage foreclosure, title issues, fraud and misrepresentation, boundary disputes, leasing disputes, mechanic’s lien actions, contract for deed cancellations, partition actions, and real estate contract disputes. Barbara has won every appeal that she has handled during her career. Her recent court victories include decisions by the Minnesota Supreme Court in favor of a banking client holding a mortgage valid under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 287, and a decision by the Minnesota Court of Appeals in favor of a property owner client ordering a soil & water conservation district to approve her client's wetland replacement application. Barbara has served as Chair of the Eminent Domain Section and of the Real Property Section of the Hennepin County Bar Association and is a member of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association and ABA Advisory Panel. She is active in the Minnesota State Bar Association and served on the Civil Gideon Task Force. In addition, Barbara has lectured for continuing legal education, provides pro bono services to the Volunteer Lawyers Network, and serves as a mentor for law students at St. Thomas Law School.
