About Barbara Schneider

Arts administrator committed to innovative music performance and music education accessible to all. Formerly Managing Director for Present Music, a Milwaukee-based contemporary music ensemble that has commissioned over 80 new works. Oversaw up to 94 community-based music education programs per academic year serving students through the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music Connections program - a national model for community music programming. Experience in nonprofit management including operations, grant writing, strategic planning and vision, and community partnerships. Background creating long lasting relationships in the community and meeting and exceeding revenue goals. Master’s degree in violin performance and pedagogy from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. 20 years of violin performance experience as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician and 17 years teaching experience at the Peabody Institute. Students have received many honors and studied at respected music schools and festivals. Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival participant for two summers. Violin studies with Herbert Greenberg and Klara Fenyo Bahcall, and violin pedagogy with Rebecca Henry.
