I am an experienced finance professional, with 30-odd years of experience in oil, gas and energy, with key areas of expertise in: • Deep knowledge of global debt markets, having operated in the markets of Johannesburg, London, New York, Hong Kong and Beijing, having closing responsibility for several multi-billion-dollar transactions; • Experience spanning most debt instruments, both on the corporate side such as loans, syndicated loans, bonds and convertible bonds, and on a limited recourse side with experience dealing with the World Bank Group (IFC and MIGA), European Developmental Finance Institutions, the principles of limited recourse and completion risk management applied by commercial banks and a limited degree of project bond exposure. Some experience with equity capital markets, Venture Capital funds and ratings agencies; • Wide generalist knowledge of the commercial suite of contracts that is required to operationalise a petrochemicals or energy project, from PPA’s and offtake agreements through generic construction contracting principles, technology licensing, completion risk mitigation, Gas Purchase or Transportation Agreements and generic understanding of reservoir risk; • Preferred role as the right hand man and trusted adviser to the business leader, leading a small team of highly skilled professionals. Operational/ transactional CFO role not preferred, although I have some experience as transitional CFO to a reasonably large division where I was tasked to implement a finance function restructure in addition to leading a multi-billion-dollar limited recourse financing. I am a strongly performance driven person who places high value on the need for collaboration and team effectiveness up and down the chain; • Fluent in the principles of Corporate Finance, Discounted Cash Flow Analysis, interrogating valuation models and assumptions and analysing and allocating risk. Good at identifying early signs of pre-conditions that are at risk of going wrong.
