About Barney Miller

Professional Film Editor for the advertising industy. Also experienced as a writer, director, creative director and AI Artist and prompt engineer. I was the original founder of Company X, one of the premiere music video & commercial post production houses in New York. My most recent full time position was at Cosmo Street Editorial, with facilities in New York, Chicago & Los Angeles, Miami and Kansas City. Currently I'm represented for advertising and branding work by Roam Editorial while running small, independent jobs & AI work through my LLC Detox Films, of which I'm sole proprietor. As an editor I have been a finalist for AICE awards 3 times. Two short film series I worked on in 2020 received recognition by the LA Shorts International Film festival (two episodes of "Commercials" the web series directed by Pam Thomas) and an official selection for Cannes' Indie Shorts Awards ("Legacy" directed by Margo Weathers). Legacy also just won the coveted BEST EDITOR prize at the London Fashion Film Awards for 2021. Work I've done has also won MTV VMA awards, Cannes Gold Lions, Broadcast Design Awards, Numerous Telly's and more. Brands I've done work for include, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Verizion, VW, Jaguar, Maybelline, AT & T, McDonalds, Olay, Gucci, Tiffany and many more. I have also worked as a commercial film director, with some projects recently being commended in AdWeek, Creativity and elsewhere. I also have a history of both directing & editing music videos including the number #1 smash hit by Avicii & Aloe Black,"Wake Me Up".(Edited by me & co-directed with acclaimed portrait photographer Mark Seliger). That video has received over 600 million hits on Youtube since it's release. I’ve also worked on videos for musical artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Fall Out Boy, A$AP Rocky & many others. My work in music videos was informed by my former career in music. In that previous life I was in bands that opened for everyone from Chaka Kahn to the Clash. This led to the opening of the recording studio & commercial music house Shout It Out Loud Music, which I founded in 2009 along with the super talented Francis Garcia, formerly of Elias Arts. I currently live in New York City with my wonderful Wife Caitlin and our three kids (one human two canine).
