About Barry Cox

Barry Cox, with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University, has been a Standard Development Manager at the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) since 2019. However, his association with NSAI dates back to 2008, accumulating over a decade of experience in conformity assessments and enforcement of National and European legislation. His expertise has led to successful prosecutions in various cases. Barry’s responsibilities include managing a portfolio of manufacturing committees and actively participating in training courses and events to stay updated. He plays a crucial role in promoting Irish involvement in the development of International (ISO) and European (EN) Standards for emerging technologies like Additive Manufacturing and Industrial Robots. Additionally, Barry collaborates with researchers, facilitating their engagement in the standardization process. His efforts contribute to knowledge valorization through standardization, supporting researchers and innovators in transforming their results into sustainable products and solutions. Barry also advocates for the significant contributions of researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to standardization within the broader community. Inspired by the motto “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” by Henry Ford, Barry Cox emphasizes teamwork, drawing from his years of service in the Reserve Defence Forces.
