About Barry Gene Murphy
A technical film making background in animation studying in IADT and Royal College of Art. Having worked throughout the spectrum of moving image for the past 18 years mainly in post production roles in advertising and music video production. My short films have been screened in many territories, Two Wheels Good 2012 received the Claire Lynch award for best new director at the Cork Film Festival. Two Wheels Good is an animated documentary that looks at memories of a life cycling in rural Ireland before cars. My latest VR immersive experience Goliath: Playing with Reality co created with Anagram received the Grand Jury Prize at Venice International Film Festival 2021 and is now available and touring the world through the Oculus Store. Goliath: Playing with Reality is a documentary story about connection, reality and gaming. Supported by Venice Film College, Creative XR Catapult scheme, the BFI, IDFA doclab, CNC and Oculus/Meta. I'm available for collaboration and consultancy on writing and creative process preferably in VR/XR but also traditional storytelling and documentary.
