About Barry Johnson

My name is Barry Johnson, and I am originally from Southern California. I have lived in Lawrence, Kansas for the past 18 years with my wife Missy. We have five beautiful daughters. I also have two wonderful grandsons who I enjoy spending time A true sports enthusiast, I have enjoyed all levels of play throughout my career and in later years coaching. I played basketball, baseball, and football from childhood up through college. I have coached junior college baseball and fastpitch softball for over seventeen years. In my preceding years as president of the Lawrence Phenix Fastpitch organization, I helped expand the organization from three teams to twelve. Following my retirement from coaching travel fastpitch in 2016, I accepted the opportunity to coach for the University of Kansas Club softball team where I continue my passion for leading others and teaching the game of softball. As my twenty-nine-year career as a corporate travel manager abruptly ended in 2020 due to Covid-19, I began planning the next stages of my career. I envisioned and prayed for an opportunity to merge my proven account management and customer service experience with my passion for sports. Most of all, I hoped for an opportunity to collaborate, lead and positively influence others. I am grateful for this opportunity to work for Perfect Game Mid-West and cannot wait to build meaningful partnerships with coaches, parents, and players across the Midwest.
