About Barry Klein

Barry is an IT and media professional with many years of business experience within the technology and 'new' media industries. His focus has been on working _between_ technology and people. He has managed deployment of early-stage broadband services, written and voiced advertising spots, provided streaming audio and video services for broadcasters, produced technical how-to videos, and developed custom web-based applications, all with a special focus on bridging the gap between the technology and the users. In the hospitality industry during college, Barry was professionally trained to provide outstanding customer service, earining an award for his customer service abilities. This singular skill has proven invaluable throughout every step of life since. He managed the rollout of one of the nations first-ever cable broadband systems for Internet Ventures in 1997. He oversaw 7 ISP brands within California, creating an a la carte ISP service to compete with national competitors. He was responsible for managing a multiple-media ad campaign, writing copy and directing talent for radio and TV spots, that garnered 200% of the targeted return. Barry loved his 5 years as senior sales executive for streaming content distribution network StreamGuys Inc (2004-2009), working with professional broadcasters of all types to provide the correct services and ensure a positive experience for all. Moving to Kaua'i with his wife in 2010, Barry began to focus more on the technical side of things, including video and voice production. He created a variety of technical how-to videos for Swiss-based Barix Inc, showcasing the use of their audio-over-IP hardware and applications. Barry enjoys scripting custom web apps for businesses, keeping up with and employing the never-ending evolution of standards and security requirements. More recent methods include using MVC framework platforms like CakePHP. On-island work includes IT/inventory management for Tamba Surf Company!
