About Barry Leaf

I have been involved in the management of hard & soft services since 1989, most of that time in Estates Management. I am an Incorporated Engineer as well as a Member of the IET and IHEEM and hold a City & Guilds Licentiate. I began by completing an apprenticeship in electrical installation and then working both in the private and public sectors. Joining the NHS, Lewisham Hospital, in 1989 expanded my knowledge into wider fields in building services as well as specialist fields of medical gases and sterilisation. I became the Facilities Manager of a mental health unit within Lewisham Hospital and managed a mixture of hotel services & estates services. My role changed back to Estates Management for 2 to 3 years, followed by around 7 months as a Trust Site Services Manager in mental health. I returned to Lewisham Hospital carrying out monitoring of compliance and certain PFI issues. I returned to estates management, joining GOSH. Since April 2015, I have commenced work as Estates Workshop Manager, at Maidstone Hospital; this role is for the management of the Works Department. I am also a sports and clinical massage therapist. I am qualified to Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist Certificate (ACMT) Jing Method, Certificate Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy, ITEC Diploma Level 3 Holistic Massage, ITEC Diploma Level 3 Diet & Nutrition, ITEC Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology as well as training in Deep Tissue Massage and various Jing advanced clinical massage units. I am a certified YMCA Exercise to Music instructor, Award in Circuit Training Instruction and qualified Level 2 Coach with British Council of Chinese Martial Arts.
