With over 10 years of experience in the dynamic world of HR, my journey at Hertfordshire Constabulary has been both rewarding and diverse. When I first stepped into HR, I was a complete novice. However, my background as a retail manager equipped me with valuable leadership skills, and I quickly rose to the position of Team Leader. Within a few short years, I advanced to Assistant Manager, taking on a senior role within our department. This transition led to the formation of a new, structured HR Department, where I now proudly serve as a Team Leader. Throughout my HR career, I've seized numerous opportunities to grow and innovate. Recently, I leveraged my passion for IT and tech-savvy background to implement four new HR systems, revolutionizing our team's efficiency and operations. My deep understanding of HR policies and procedures was instrumental in shaping these systems to meet our needs. Combining my HR expertise with IT knowledge has been a game-changer. It enabled me to make informed decisions about process feasibility and navigate the complex jargon of the IT world during supplier meetings. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role has been fostering team relationships and mentoring staff as they advance into management positions. Guiding them through their professional growth has been incredibly rewarding. HR has not only honed my skills but also enhanced my customer service abilities, surpassing even my extensive experience in retail management. For the past year, I have been a Recruitment Team Leader, exploring the other side of our HR department. This role has been incredibly rewarding, as I have learned how we manage vacancies and candidates through our recruitment processes. It has also allowed me to contribute to the team's efficiency improvements and implement process and system enhancements with our ATS provided by Oleeo. This experience has expanded my knowledge of recruitment and attraction initiatives, enabling me to help managers optimise their advertisements for key roles within their departments. As we move into 2025, I am excited to continue building my recruitment expertise and drive further improvements in this area.
