About Barry Omalley

I have worked in the building industry for over 35 years for many companies. I have had the chance to become skilled in many trades as well as being a qualified Carpenter and Joiner. I have worked over the years on private and commercial contracts, renovation, restoration, Heritage and new build. I have held many different positions, such as working foreman, site foreman, project/contracts manager. I continue to have a keen interest in construction in general and in using my experience to drive up standards in the workplace. I am currently a Freelance Site Manager, and have been working on the construction of a Solar Farm for the last 12 months managing all aspects of the site, H&S, enabling work, Civils, deliveries, set up of welfare, security as well as piling and M&E contractors. I have worked on three consecutive projects for Robertson Construction, a re clad project, industrial de-commissioning project and 13 months managing a D&B project in Leeds city centre. Following this I have worked for Wellshill Civils and Plant as a SSM managing a Civils package on a sewage treatment works in East Yorkshire before accepting my current role as SSM on the Eastgate Solar project in North Yorkshire for Voltalia. I am also an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator and Temporary Works Compliance Auditor having carried out this role for over 5 years covering most areas of the Uk. In this role I carried out support visits for our client TWC's as well as procedural reviews when requested. On numerous occasions I have also been contracted to work with our clients on site management teams in the capacity of Temporary Works Coordinator for large scale construction projects. I am qualified in the following: TW Coordination, SMSTS, Scaffold Inspection, PASMA, and Working at Height, Fire Safety, NEBOSH General certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and First Aid at Work. Outside work I fill my time with family life, caravanning and have enjoyed being the manager of my sons football team in their final year of youth football. When time allows I like to swim and get out on my road bike, taking part in sportive events.
