About Barry Pomeroy

Informal leadership, leading to training and expertise, followed by command service has been the best learning opportunity of my career and has guided my love for public service to look for ways to benefit and grow the team and persons I worked for. 32 years of public safety training, advancing opportunities, and the failure / success processes have provided a perspective for professional decision making and personal growth that favors taking a positivity oriented interest in staff, from executive administrators, laterally all the way over to the newest recruits (not beneath us). That interest is helpful when we care for all persons for their potential, strengths, and challenges. People need to know we will support them in success and failures, causing them to become better, even inspiring them to become great at their endeavors without allowing abusive experiences. The result we seek is Trust. People first, mission always, and integrity overhead should be guiding all public safety decisions. Difficult conversations and necessary choices are a privilege of serving as a leader, and the basis of success with both are respectful communication that demonstrates love for the mission, and deep appreciation for the variety of people on our teams. Events may soon signal the end of my professional service career, but will allow my personal faith and professional experience to transition into mentoring and teaching faith, and soft skills in a few pathways. Flying will resume as soon as practical and profitable. I’m always available for a heart to heart, a crisis call, moral support, recruiting and public service exam / interview coaching.
