About Barry Simon

At an early age, as a high school student, I was fortunate to have a bookkeeping teacher who sparked my interest in all aspects of accounting. After completing my studies at Concordia University in Urban Planning my interests in accounting was reignited. Soon after, I contributed my skills with numbers and documentation to the accounting departments of several companies within different industries (Food, Manufacturing, Transport, Retail). I then had the opportunity to work for a a very large and successful Clothing & Apparel company, Gildan Activewear. At Gildan I gained extensive experience in : accounts payable, supplier reconciliations, data entry, cheque runs, year end archiving. In addition, I assisted auditors, as needed. During the second part of my career at Gildan, Management recognized my tech-savvy abilities and I shifted into an IT support role. It was at this point that I utilized my listening and assessments skills to resolve tech-related issues for 150+ employees on a daily basis (including the full set-up of computer work stations).
