About Bart Aptroot
Bart Aptroot is an architect and urban planner and the Amsterdam Director for ONE. He has been with ONE since 2004. His experience includes various architecture works including the Jozef, the award-winning transformation of a listed 1950s hospital complex, as well as community co-created zero energy, climate resilient apartment buildings. His infrastructural experience includes the Deventer Amstellaan transformation project and, prior to his career at ONE, the Jan Schaeferbrug, a 285m span steel bridge connecting the Amsterdam Java-island. In urban planning Bart takes roles as designer, supervisor or strategic consultant. Bart excels in climate adaptation strategies and nature based solutions in urban and regional contexts, water and soil led design strategies in public spaces and community co-created urban redevelopment. His believe is that combining these challenges and looking through the various scales is key to breaking ground for innovative solutions.
