About Bart Kaas

Looking at our society and the system with a bird's eye view and it's transition towards staying within the planetary boundaries, two challenges have my specific interest: Energy flexibility and Resource Efficiency Energy Flexibility: The upcoming decades our energy system will transition towards climate neutrality and one of the key remaining questions is how to maintain the balance between supply and demand in the electricity grid with the integration of large volumes of variable renewable energy sources. Specifically the regional aspects in electricity grids (e.g. Energy Hubs/Smart Energy concepts) have my interest. Resource Efficiency: Luckily receiving ever more attention, and still ever more important to transition from our largely linear economy to a more circular economy. With a control engineering/optimization background and a wide range of interests, I enjoy leading teams to work on finding the answers to the questions of tomorrow.
