About Bart Roem
My name is Bart Roem. I studied Spatial Planning and Urban Planning at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. During this program, I also completed a minor in railway technology. Throughout the minor and my work at Movares and ProRail, I became increasingly drawn to the profession of train driver. Therefore, in 2024, I completed the training to become a fully qualified train driver, which I passed on the first attempt in 2025. My passion lies in improving railway safety through innovative systems like ERTMS, but also by applying my unique combination of design knowledge and practical experience as a driver. This allows me to connect technology with the reality on the tracks.
