Bart van Arem holds a Master's degree (1986) and PhD degree (1990) in Applied Mathematics, speciality queuing theory at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. In 1991 he was engaged in modelling traffic flows at roundabouts for the Dutch Ministry of Transport Public Works and Water Management. He has worked as a researcher and program manager at TNO between 1992 and 2009 on Intelligent Transport Systems, in which he has been active in various national and international projects. His interest focuses on Advanced Driver Assistance systems.From 2003-2012 he was a part-time professor Application of Integrated Driver Assistance (AIDA) at the University of Twente and leading the knowledge centre AIDA.Since 2009 he is a full professor Transport & Planning at Delft University of Technology, focusing on the impact of Intelligent Transport Systems on mobility.
