About Basem Ismail

I am a water engineer with 12 years of experience. My professional experience involve operation and maintenance (O&M) and asset performance at Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) in Abu Dhabi Emirate. Challenges which I encountered during my career provided me with hands-on experience in water systems, helped me linking with what I learned in academia and assisted me in advancing my understanding of hydraulics and water assets management. In my quest to become a world class professional in water engineering, I quit my job to travel to England to study MSc in water management at the bespoke Centre for Water Systems in the University of Exeter in the UK. This did not only allow me to improve my knowledge on water systems, but it also was a good opportunity to meet and work under leaders from the UK water industry such as Dr. Savic and Dr. Kapelan. At Exeter, I learned how to conduct a research under sound principles and gained great insights from the UK water industry. My thesis received praise awarding me distinction on my MSc degree. O&M Water Water Asset Performance Water Hydraulics In my current post as water performance engineer, I managed to win employee of the month, achieve 'very good' appraisal rating and win innovation competition for year 2021. in 2022, I obtained IAM Certificate and currently I am working towards my C.Eng designation.
