About Bashar Chreim

I am an R&D Director passionate about designing innovative solutions to valorize electricity from renewable sources, with a strong focus on photovoltaic energy. My work lies at the crossroads of technical expertise, business strategy, and regulatory frameworks, conceiving and deploying models that help our clients make the most of local energy production. My core responsibility is to design and validate electricity valorization strategies through mechanisms such as collective self-consumption, power purchase agreements, and storage solutions. I build these solutions to meet both technical feasibility and economic viability, enabling meaningful contributions to the energy transition across France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the UK. Beyond solution design, I also lead the development of energy communities and oversee the digitalization of internal processes to automate and scale our services. A key part of my mission involves building partnerships with major energy stakeholders to ensure our solutions are both impactful and compliant with national regulations. This work builds on my background as a researcher. I hold a PhD in the planning and management of distributed energy resources, with a specialization in residential-scale photovoltaic and battery storage systems. During my PhD, I developed techno-economic optimization models to determine the optimal sizing, placement, and control of distributed energy resources, using techniques like mathematical solvers, heuristics, metaheuristics, and reinforcement learning. I also applied machine learning and deep learning methods to forecast energy consumption and production, and to analyze consumer behavior. My research extended to optimizing the creation of energy communities, identifying ideal participant sets and designing equitable energy sharing mechanisms. I am deeply committed to advancing the decentralized energy landscape in Europe, turning complex technical concepts into real-world solutions that accelerate the shift to a sustainable, smart, and flexible energy system.
