About Bashrat Hussain

My role at Thomas Deacon Academy has been diverse and I have considerable experience in pastoral role and teaching PE. Whilst, I started primarily as a cricket coach, I have gained my teaching qualifications in 2016. As a part of my role, I regularly plan and deliver lessons and assess learning. I am a qualified ECB Level 3 cricket coach. I have been working as a coach for a last 12 years, in a range of establishments such as schools, clubs and counties. This provided an opportunity to learn the skills of planning, delivering and reviewing player development programmes. It also equipped me with tools to self evaluate, observe and analyse player performance. I believe I have not only developed as a coach but as an individual through working with different coaches and players of all abilities. To further my understanding of coaching and fitness in sport I completed a degree BSc (Honors) Sports, Fitness and Coaching through The Open University. More recently, I have completed MSc Sport Performance Coaching through University of Stirling. I am very passionate about cricket but also a keen sportsman with an interest in all sport. I play cricket for Oundle Town Cricket Club and lead my Sunday team. I also play golf, badminton and squash for recreation and enjoying reading about sports and watching it.
