PhD candidate at the McMaster University studying the role of Conserved Signature Indels (CSIs) and Conserved Signature Proteins (CSPs) in Prokaryotic Systematics, Taxonomy, Speciation and Evolution. Utilizing genomic data sourced from various prokaryotes, my investigation aims to pinpoint distinctive molecular signatures in the form of CSIs and CSPs. These findings are anticipated to furnish innovative tools that can greatly enhance our comprehension of the evolutionary connections among diverse organisms. The signatures derived from my research serve a dual purpose. Firstly, they are instrumental in the development of robust PCR-based diagnostic methods and secondly, these signatures present promising applications as novel targets for drug development. Thus, my work holds the potential to contribute significantly to both the field of evolutionary biology and practical advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
