About Basil Hashem

I started building products while at Netscape, when we'd just started trying to explain to the world what a browser is. Ever since, I've focused on developing the products that are intellectually interesting, but what I care most about is working with smart, capable, and kind people. Having spent decades both observing and participating in the birth, growth, and saturation of cloud technologies, I led Engineering and Product for Yotascale. I've always felt that people weren't really taking advantage of the cloud cost optimization tools they have in front of them, and I enjoyed the challenge of building a better set of workflows for them. Networking with other entrepreneurial people, both technical and business focused, in and out of the Valley, is a passion of mine. I've begun angel investing via Mentors Fund, and love hearing about what other companies are doing in the seed stages as they disrupt traditional industries. Having started and sold my own company, which raised money from Sequoia during the Dot Com crash and which we later sold, I have deep empathy and excitement for this journey.
