Dr. Basil N. Wilson of Island Health Services completes Fellowship in Functional, Regenerativeand Integrated Medicine In conjunction with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the Metabolic Medical Institute (partnered with The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health), Dr. Wilson has engaged in studies in the field of Functional, Regenerative and Integrated Medicine. Long believing that modern medicine focuses far too much on relieving and suppressing “symptoms” instead of uncovering and eliminating the root cause of symptoms and disease, Dr. Wilson set out to learn more. Over the past five years, he has pursued studies encompassing a metabolic and functional approach to Cardiovascular Disease, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nutrition, Autoimmune Disease and Toxicology, as well as delving into the new science of Epigenetics - focusing on how everyday life affects genetic expression Dr. Wilson’s philosophy approaches every patient as an individual – each with a unique genetic and lifestyle situation. While professional health care is a strong factor in staying well, it is imperative that patients also are willing to take responsibility for their own well-being. Medical professionals can only do so much. The best doctor is of no use if the patient isn’t interested in participating in their health. Patients need to be dedicated towards achieving optimal health – they must “want” to be well.
