About Bassim Abbassi

I have over 25 years of multidisciplinary academic and research experience in different disciplines of environmental engineering at several educational and research institutions. I was able to initiate research programs committed to the mandates of the academic institutions, however with industry-driven technology transfer. I have distinguished experience in fundraising and grant acquisition at national and international levels such as USAID, EU, BMBF, and BMZ. I enjoy solid standing in proposal writing, implementation, coordination and management of full-cycle research and development projects. I worked on strategic applied projects entailing development of innovative technologies and implementation of sustainable environmental solutions. Furthermore, I have published my work in peer reviewed international journals, international conferences and technical reports. I am a member of several committees dealing with interdisciplinary topics of education, research and training. Further, I have garnered over 16 years of experience in technical education, and am well versed at managing the complexities of several technical practice oriented projects. Finally I have a multicultural open-minded personality with interesting communication skills across diverse cultures and multiple languages with fluent English, German and Arabic.
